β€œSome stories remind you how hard it is to find your voice β€” and how powerful it feels when you finally do.”

Educated is one of those stories that quietly takes hold of you, not because it is loud or fast-paced, but because it is deeply real. Tara Westover grew up in a strict, isolated family in rural Idaho where formal education and modern medicine were forbidden. What begins as a life of survival and obedience turns into a powerful journey of self-discovery when Tara teaches herself enough to attend college and begins to see her family and the world in a new light.

It took me a little while to get into the story, but once Tara’s journey toward education began, I could not stop reading. Watching her transformation from a sheltered child to an independent, questioning adult was both inspiring and emotional. Her writing feels poetic and vivid, allowing you to see and feel the mountains, the fear, and the fragile hope within every chapter.

Some stories remind you how hard it is to find your voice, and how powerful it feels when you finally do. Educated left me deeply grateful for the privilege of learning and the courage it takes to think for yourself. The slower pacing feels right for the story, because growth and understanding often take time.

Amazon Book Description

Born to survivalists in the mountains of Idaho, Tara Westover was seventeen the first time she set foot in a classroom. Her family was so isolated from mainstream society that there was no one to ensure the children received an education, and no one to intervene when one of Tara’s older brothers became violent. When another brother got himself into college, Tara decided to try a new kind of life. Her quest for knowledge transformed her, taking her over oceans and across continents, to Harvard and to Cambridge University. Only then would she wonder if she’d traveled too far, if there was still a way home.
