The Arching Question

Welcome to my hidden page! I had a lot of fun working on this Fermi question. I first had to learn what a Fermi problem even was and figure out how to approach it. I liked that this question focused more on the process than the exact answer. I spent quite a bit of time - probably a few weeks - pondering the simplest possible method to estimate how many soccer balls could fill the Arch. After breaking it into steps and keeping the math manageable, my final estimate was 3.1 million soccer balls. I thought you might enjoy seeing a little behind-the-scenes perspective.
